Ron David McPhatter is the son of R & B legends Ruth Brown and Clyde McPhatter.
Ruth Brown was the first woman signed to the Atlantic Record Label which became known as the "House That Ruth Built." She won Grammy and Tony awards, performed on Broadway, televison and movies. She performed at the inaguration of President Bill Clinton, was declared a national treasure and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Clyde McPhatter founded the world famous group, Clyde McPhatter and the Drifters after leaving the Dominoes. He was signed onto the Atlantic label where he recorded a number of number one hits. He recorded with the Drifters, as a solo artist and with Ruth Brown. During the Rock and Roll series, Clyde was awarded his own postage stamp and was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
